A New Era Begins

5th

Edition

Announcing the 5th Edition of the reader and study guide

This fall, Perspectives USA launches the 5th Edition of its transformative curriculum—an updated and refreshed journey through God’s global purpose.

Rooted in Scripture and enriched with new research, global voices, and current insights, the 5th Edition builds on the trusted foundation that has shaped thousands of World Christians while making the content even more accessible for today’s learners.

With new articles, expanded perspectives, and thoughtful revisions throughout, this edition invites students to see God’s heart for the nations with greater clarity and relevance than ever before.

God’s Purpose

“We’re bringing in some new authors and some new thoughts…but the same elements of transformation, the same ideas of God’s global purpose, remain.”

–James Mason

Q: What is the Perspectives 5th Edition?

A: The 5th Edition of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement Reader and Study Guide
is an exciting update designed to serve today’s Church with clarity, depth, and fresh insight.
It builds on the trusted foundations of Perspectives while incorporating updated
scholarship, global voices, and a renewed focus on God’s mission in our time.

Q: When will the 5th Edition be used in classes?

A: The 5th edition will be used in classes starting in Fall 2026.

Q: Why should I be excited about the 5th Edition?

A: The 5th Edition represents a renewed invitation into God’s global mission—rooted in Scripture, informed by the global Church, and designed to inspire the next generation of world Christians. We can’t wait to experience it together!

Q: Will there be training on the new edition?

A: Yes! We’ll have 6 training sessions beginning in March on the content and program
changes, which Instructors, staff, and Coordinating Teams are welcome to attend. All the
training sessions will occur twice – once during the day and once in the evening. They will
be recorded and made available for future viewing if one of the live sessions doesn’t work
for you. They will be as follows:

1. Overview Session
2. Biblical Section
3. Historical Section
4. Cultural Section
5. Strategic Section
6. Recap and Next Steps

Invitations to these sessions will be sent via email.

Q: What about training for Coordinating Teams?

A: We will offer updated training for multiple Coordinating Team roles in preparation for fall classes. Every aspect of training will reflect the 5th Edition, ensuring teams feel
confident and equipped.

Q: Will CTW and IDW trainings be updated?

QA: Absolutely. All training—including Coordinating Team Workshops and Instructor Development Workshops—will be updated to align with the 5th Edition content and
approach.

Q: When will 5th Edition textbooks be available?

A: The English and Spanish editions will be available in the spring. The books will be
available from William Carey Publishing, and a link will be provided when they are available.

Q: How will the content be updated?

A: The 5th Edition of Perspectives keeps the heart and structure of the 15-lesson course
intact, with about 75% of the content remaining the same. What’s new is greater clarity,
fresh depth, and thoughtful updates for today’s world. With 25% new material and 37 new
articles, this edition features updated research, current statistics, and global insights, along
with a wider range of voices—including increased author diversity and more female
contributors. You’ll also find new content on digital missions, global trends, technology, and
artificial intelligence to help believers engage a rapidly changing world with confidence.

We’ve reduced reading by 10% and simplified assignments to make the workload more manageable. The course now focuses on a single track with a certificate of completion, and academic credit is still available depending on the institution. Once published, the covers will be updated to make them easy to distinguish from previous editions. Details of the updates will be available during the spring training sessions.

Q: Are there discounts for staff and instructors?

A: Yes—the ebook will be available at a discounted price to all Perspectives volunteers.

Q: Will the website reflect the new edition?

A: Yes. The Perspectives website will be updated for fall classes, including information and resources connected to the 5th Edition.

Q: Are there opportunities to learn more?

A: Yes! We’ll be hosting regional online town halls in March. These gatherings will give Regional Directors and regional staff the opportunity to share about the new edition, answer questions, and connect with people in their regions. Regional Directors will send out invitations to alumni and interested parties in their region.

Q: Who can I go to with questions?

A: Your Regional Director is the ideal person to talk with, or join one of our town halls for more information.
